Blackburn Center to Benefit from New Program
Pat and H Childs are proud to announce a new program developed to raise donations for area charities through their business G Squared Gallery. ¢hange for ¢hange asks customers if they would like to donate their change or “cents,” rounded up to the next dollar, from their purchase. The “cents” will then be donated to a local nonprofit. A new charity will be selected each quarter based on input from G Squared’s social media followers. The first quarter’s donations collected through ¢hange for ¢hange will go to the Blackburn Center, which provides crucial services to women, children and men whose lives have been impacted by violence or crime, including hotline, shelter, legal advocacy, counseling and more.
Here are a few of the smiling faces who have rounded up cents to make a difference. THANK YOU!!
About BLACKBURN CENTER
Since then, Blackburn Center has grown to a staff of more than 30, with an active team of volunteers. Through this growth, they have developed an array of services for adult and child victims of sexual assault and domestic violence as well as comprehensive community education and professional in-service training programs. Every year, thousands of people reach out for their services. The organization continues to support victims with their shelter, counseling, and advocacy services.
Blackburn Center competes for funding each year from state and federal funding sources to obtain a portion of the financial support needed to sustain programs for the Westmoreland County community. These funds are administered through the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape, the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, and the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare through the Westmoreland County Commissioners.
Blackburn Center must then turn to the local community to secure the remainder of the funds needed to maintain services. These local funds come from the United Way of Westmoreland County, foundations, local businesses, churches, civic groups, and ... people like you.
